Free Ninja Turtle Hat Crochet Pattern

When I was a little girl, I LOVED Ninja Turtles! I had all the action figures, and even dressed up as one for Halloween (my mom made the coolest costumes!). I think it’s awesome that they’ve made a comeback, but I’m not too happy with their new look 😕. Anyways, I decided I had to crochet a hat, but couldn’t find a free pattern online. So I made up my own, and now I’m sharing with you! I hope you enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions!

P.S. I’d love to see your finished hats!

If you’d love to buy this awesome hat, head over to my shop

You may sell what you make from this pattern, but please do not sell the pattern itself! If you sell items online, I ask that you please link back to the pattern 🙂

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn in green and any color you want for the mask
Small amount of white and black yarn for the eyes
H hook for toddler size (18-20 inches)
I hook for child size (19-20 1/2 inches)
Yarn needle for attaching eyes and weaving in the ends

***UPDATED May 2014***
I have had a few comments (and even some complaints!) about the size. I adjusted the pattern so hopefully that won’t be a problem. You can also use any basic beanie pattern and change colors when needed to make the mask. I am more than willing to help those who need it in the best way I can. You may email directly at knitwhitt27@yahoo.com.

  1. Thank you for this free pattern, like many I am on SS and seldom afford to pay for a pattern. It was easy to follow and I am beyond pleased with the outcome. You my latest hero-ess. Two Christmas gifts checked off a pretty long list.

  2. I’m making this into an adult size for my daughter to wear to school on Halloween.
She teaches the first grade. All the first grade teachers are going to be Ninja Turtles. It was a ral easy pattern to follow. Loved making it!

  3. Thank you so much for the pattern. I didn’t have a 5.5 mm hook so used a 5 mm instead…had to add a row in the crown and a few more in the end to fit my 7 year old son. I’m sure he’ll love it. Thanks once again

  6. Hey! I have crochet several TMNT hats for grandsons from your pattern and absolutely love it!! My ques., do you happen to have a pattern for the turtle itself? One of my grandsons (he’s 7 yrs) wants me to crochet him one. But I can’t find any free patterns that look fairly easy or write likes yours are. Any help you provide will be greatly appreciated!! Hope you have a nice day! Thanks for sharing your patterns!!

  7. I made this hat for my grandson and am sure that he will love it. Don’t know how to send you a picture but I added a final row of single crochet to firm up the edge.

  8. Whittymomma, thank you so much for this pattern. It was so easy and fast. I made one in an evening, for a little boy at church. Tomorrow I will make another for my nephew. Thank you again. I do have a time with the magic ring, but I am working on it.

  14. Thanks for the pattern. I too am a Ninja junkie. I have 2 young nephews and need something inexpensive for Christmas presents as I am unemployed. I have enough yarn in my stock pile to make these with no cost this year.
